| 'Inside Golf' Belconnen Magpies Feature Article |
| The September edition of Inside Golf newspaper has an article by Larry Canning who recently played a round at our club. Larry was the keynote speaker at Don Portway's farewell function a couple of years ago. As can be seen Larry was very complimentary about the condition and layout of our course. With spring approaching and a focus on course conditioning for the upcoming Belconnen Open augurs well for some great golf in the months ahead.

| Belconnen Magpies Open Championship - Entries Now Available |
| Entries are now being received for the Belconnen Open to be held on the weekend of 11 and 12 September. Prize money and trophies will again total $5500 with the Open winner receiving prize and trophy valued at $750 and grade winners prizes valued at $250. The entry fee is $35 which covers 2 rounds of golf and other benefits. This event proved to be very popular last year so early entries are advisable. | The final of the Presidents Cup 4BBB Handicap Stableford Matchplay to be contested between pairings of Mark George/Richard Harriss and Bill Tolano/Chatchai chantree is scheduled for Sat 18 September.

| Bugs in the Technology |
| We are currently experiencing some difficulties with data corruption in the electronic timesheet and handicapping system. This has lead to delays in processing results for some competitions and subsequently late submission for publication in the Canberra Times. We are actively working through these difficulties and hope to have the system fully functional in the near future. Members patience during this time is appreciated.

| Scratch match play Championships Results |
| The finals of the grade scratch matchplay championships were played on Saturday 21 August. With rain over the past fortnight the course was quite waterlogged in places presenting a challenge to all finalists. In A Grade Mark George prevailed 5 and 4 over Bruce Jnani with Tony Violi winning B grade 2 an1 from Wayne Ralph and Tony Bird being C Grade Champion with a 4 and 2 victory over Paul McCarthy.

| Mixed Foursomes Results |
| Pat Woodberry and Justin Jnani are the new mixed foursomes club champions. Consistency was the key to Pat and Justin's game shooting 81 and 83 for a total of 164 to win from Margaret Salmon and Keith Philip (83, 88 -170). In the handicap section Florence Kennedy and Tony bird came through the field in the second round with a nett 64 for a two round total of 136 to win by 7 shots from Bernadette Sharkey and Dave Fitzsimmons.
